Job Summary: The Mold Specialist will be expected to work in a team environment to complete tasks with a consisting fabrication integrity established by Animax’s quality assurance personnel. This role is a key member of the Surface Development team, who sculpts and produces the artistic elements of our entertainment robotics and animatronic figures. The ideal candidate for this role has hands-on experience with mold making. a keen attention to detail and enjoys working on a team to accomplish big goals. At times, this individual may be required to assist with other areas of the Sculptural Design department, including assisting with sculpting, casting, sanding, painting, and various other tasks that may be needed. This role is perfect for practical effects artists, special effects makeup artists, prop makers, sculptors, makers, etc. We highly encourage all applicants to also submit a link or file with a portfolio of their previous work.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Ability to work individually as well as part of the team. You are part of a team and expected to perform and participate with mutual respect for fellow teammates.
Work closely to coordinate work and timelines with other Animax teams including engineers, technicians and administrative staff
Fabricates various types of molds, such as matrix molds, stone molds, and box molds
Works with a variety of materials, including but not limited to, water and oil-based clay, epoxy resins, polyester, urethane, and silicone
Operates various power and hand tools, such as bandsaws, grinders, sanders, dremels, table saws, cutting instruments, etc.
Follows directions and guidance from project lead or manager
Understands and follows precautions concerning interactions between different materials
Maintains fabrication integrity by consistently following quality assurance guidelines
Follows all safety precautions and policies
All other duties assigned by manager.
Ability to deal with stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere • Ability to Designs a complete project, system, component, or process with limited oversight
Efficiently manage time in a deadline-oriented atmosphere
Prepares documentation of project lifecycle through notetaking and photos
Introduce innovative techniques to create efficiencies and continued education within mold and casting processes
Uphold NDA requirements to protect all IP
Preferred skills:
Knowledgeable in casting, and other fabrication techniques to be produced from sculptures or other dimensional models
Work Environment
Being mobile; able to stand for long periods of time as well as occasionally squat, kneel, crawl etc, to be underneath or on top of a mold
Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
