    Job Summary:Animax Designs creates extraordinary three-dimensional characters for the themed entertainment, location-based entertainment, commercial, film, and television industries. We are currently seeking a Project Estimator to work at our facility in Nashville, TN.

    The Project Estimator is responsible for the generation of project estimates for all Animax project opportunities. Project types include robotic/animatronic characters, show action equipment, puppets and costume characters for Theme Parks and other Location Based Entertainment.

    They will play a key role in collaborating with the Business Capture team in developing highly competitive bids/proposals, while ensuring projects are estimated appropriately to drive required profitability. The position requires substantial knowledge with respect to the processes associated with the design and build of animatronics, puppetry, and costume characters.

    The ideal candidate must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills, be able to work well with all levels of the organization, be detail-oriented, and have proficiency in responses to RFPs, RFQs & RFIs. They will also find ease working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with accuracy while creating compelling, best-in-class project estimates.

    The role reports to the Director of Business Capture.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    Responsible for developing estimates as a key member of the Business Capture team.

    Collaborate with Directors and Managers to develop large, multi-disciplinary estimates.

    Collaborate with in-house cross functional teams, including Directors and Managers for development of large, multi-disciplinary estimates.

    Determine labor and material costs of projects throughout the life cycle of the project.

    Develop accurate and concise clarifications and assumptions used in the development of estimates

    Collaborate with the Business Capture team to identify project risks and evaluate required contingency

    Develop and maintain cost comparisons for various project types to facilitate future estimating efforts

    Solicit and analyze subcontractor and/or vendor pricing when appropriate

    Review and understand all bid documents associated with any specific RFP to ensure project estimate aligns with required submission format.

    Build and maintain estimating tools and processes to support the scaling and growth of the company overall.

    Develop deep understanding of the design/build/fabrication process/approach in order to drive consideration of alternate approaches and methodologies within projects

    Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of industry product information

    Ensure estimates are complete, accurate and submitted as required

    Respond to all inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner

    Create “cost walks” to show cause of changes and develop cost savings lists and matrices to mitigate cost overruns. Help design teams understand key cost drivers to reduce overall costs.

    Research market conditions for cost trends. Develop location cost factors and escalation factors.

    Analyze historical costs and develop comparisons for various project types.

    Qualifications

    At least 2 years estimating experience in theme parks, or themed entertainment projects, or a combination of show, ride and facility estimating required.

    Experience in early-stage design estimating (Ideation, Feasibility and Concept) as part of a design team is highly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Knowledgeable in the majority of the following: Maya animation and rigging, mechanical design & engineering, controls and electrical systems, machining, sculpting, mold making, casting, painting, soft goods fabrication, costuming, assembly and the impact of these processes or systems on the development of animatronics, puppets and costume characters.

    Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.

    Proficiency utilizing estimating software, bid management, and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are a must.

    Proven organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to complete varied work tasks on schedule, and lead deliverable efforts by others; and the proven ability to manage documents.

    A Strong Knowledge of RFP and proposal process is required

    Knowledgeable in all of the following: Maya animation and rigging, mechanical design & engineering, controls and electrical systems, machining, sculpting, mold making, casting, painting, soft goods fabrication, costuming, assembly and the impact of these processes or systems on the development of animatronics, puppets and costume characters.

    Knowledge of project accounting, including earned value management, WIP schedules and AIA documents.

    A degree in Mathematics or similar field

    Experience with InDesign or other design platforms utilized in proposal creation.

    Understanding of animatronics, sophisticated puppetry and costuming, from design through assembly and installation.

    High degree of personal and business integrity
