    Job DescriptionAnimax Designs creates extraordinary three-dimensional characters for the themed entertainment, location-based entertainment, commercial, film, and television industries. We are currently seeking a Machine Shop CNC Technician to work at our facility in Nashville, TN.

    The contract Machine Shop CNC Technician is required to set up and operate a variety of machines, tooling, blueprints, and use various methods to produce and inspect parts.

    Essential Duties/Functions

    Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, technical / digital drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

    Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.

    Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

    Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.

    Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position, cuts and laminates tooling material as necessary.

    Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.

    Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

    Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

    Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

    Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

    Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

    Assists in coordinating CNC processes and workflows with outside departments.

    Supervises staff as needed.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education/Experience:

    BA degree, and/or 3-5 years of shop experience and /or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    3-axis CNC programming and operation.

    5-axis CNC programming and operation.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Attention to Detail.

    General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.

    Physical Demands

    Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    Moderate Noise; moving mechanical parts.
