    Job Description

    Animax Designs creates extraordinary three-dimensional characters for the themed entertainment, location-based entertainment, commercial, film, and television industries. We are currently seeking a Contract Industrial Design Engineer to work at our facility in Nashville, TN.

    The Contract Industrial Design Engineer works under the direction of the Engineering Manager and senior staff to create mechanical designs on multiple systems from concept to commissioning. This includes mechanical design with electromechanical servos, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic actuators for the entertainment industry.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of mechanism design, drafting, and assembly of complex mechanical systems as well as structural analysis of said systems. A candidate who is a self-starter, motivated to carry their designs from cradle to grave with a hands-on approach is highly desired.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    Creates 3-D parametric solid part models and manipulate organic models

    Reads and understands customer and Animax Designs functional specifications for the project

    Creates and manages Bill of Materials and all other associated documentation

    Experience with Maya, ZBrush, Rhino, or Geomagic a plus

    Performs quotes to out-source part vendors

    Travels as needed to install and commission animated figure at client installation site

    Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience

    2+ years of relevant work experience

    Experience in the Themed Entertainment industry preferred, but not required

    Required Skills and Abilities

    Advanced experience in 3-D Cad software, preferably Solidworks

    Experience with document control systems (PDM)

    Knowledge of modern manufacturing practices

    Strong mechanical understanding

    Effective communication, both written and verbal

    Ability to work with others in a cross disciplinary and collaborative team environment

    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites

    Able to manage project tasks effectively to meet schedule milestones

    Physical Requirements/Environment

    Work environment is a warehouse/shop and involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions

    Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as fumes, odors, and/or loud noises
