    Job Summary: The technician will be expected to make figure finish, composite shells to fit specific animatronic armatures of “characters” created by engineers and designers. Their tasks will include everything from preparation to production to integration of these elements in a timely, consistent order. Documentation and training are also essential parts of the job. Technician will report to the Composite Fabrication manager in the sculpt Department.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    Preparation of fiberglass before casting including measuring, marking and use of templates. The

    templates will also be made by the technician.

    Lamination and casting of fiberglass into molds using resins and fillers via rollers, brushes, and spray guns.

    Embedments will be cast into parts using predetermined registration marks in the molds.

    Extraction of castings from molds. Parts must be removed from the molds carefully as to not damage the parts or the molds and be cleaned and labeled.

    Processing, sanding, and trimming of FRP parts along seams to prepare them for bonding and integration.

    Bodywork of FRP castings using fillers like Bondo and Duraglass to fill air pockets and restore contours on FRP surfaces. Technicians must mix and apply fillers as well as use sandpaper and pneumatic sanding tools (palm sanders and grinders.)

    Fiberglass integration; fitting of castings to mechanical armatures incorporating magnets, hatches, and

    hardware embedments.

    Ability to work individually as well as part of the team. You are part of a team and expected to perform and participate with mutual respect for fellow teammates.

    Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

    Being mobile; able to stand for long periods of time as well as occasionally squat, kneel, crawl etc., to be underneath or on top of a mold.

    Able to accept constructive criticism and apply it to future work.

    Achieving all deadlines on time as given by supervisor.

    Ability to deal with stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere.

    Adaptability with overall changes to product or workflow.

    Documents process through taking notes and photos.

    Uphold NDA requirements to protect all IP.

    Qualifications/preferred skills:

    FRP/Composites industry experience such as from Theme park or Boat building business.

    Sculpture or 3-D drawing knowledge.

    Automotive paint and body work experience.

    Art school degree
