Position Overview
The Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist (QBHS) I/II/III will take on a pivotal role in the creation, implementation, and monitoring of customized mental health programs for our clients. This position involves a dynamic interplay with individuals and groups to foster optimal mental health outcomes.
Position Availability
We are seeking to fill six new positions, tentatively scheduled around the following dates:
- 2 Vacancies: October 2023
- 2 Vacancies: December 2023
- 2 Vacancies: February 2024
Work Schedule
The role requires working in 12-hour rotating shifts as per the following schedule:
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday (8am-8pm)
- Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (8am-8pm)
Case Load
The Mental Health Program Specialist will facilitate Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST), Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), and Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) on a 1:1 basis with 2 clients per shift (4 hours per client per day). The role also entails conducting approximately 2 group Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) sessions per week with up to 12 clients per group.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
While not exhaustive, the following encapsulates the core responsibilities of the position:
- Development and implementation of behavior modification programs.
- Active participation in treatment/behavior management team meetings.
- Conducting preventive counseling and behavior modification interventions.
- Ensuring effective communication with clients through verbal and written channels.
- Liaising with diverse support systems in the community.
- Supervision and participation in the delivery of requisite services.
- Serving as the primary counselor and support person for clients.
- Navigating emotionally intense situations with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Training team members in effective behavior management techniques.
- Gathering client information through interviews, observations, and tests.
- Upholding client confidentiality in treatment records.
- Tracking and documenting client progress against the goals outlined in treatment and care plans.
- Preparing and maintaining all necessary treatment records and reports.
- Attendance at regular staff meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
The position demands the following educational qualifications and experience:
- Must be at least 21 years of age due to state and federal restrictions.
- High School Diploma.
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, rehab counseling, or a related field with at least two years of related experience preferred.
- Master's degree in psychology, school psychology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
- Understanding of the characteristics of a wide range of intellectual and behavioral challenges.
- Prior experience with mindfulness or meditation work is advantageous.
- Strong background in counseling with demonstrated ability to develop functional treatment plans and foster strong relationships.
- Must be willing to undergo intensive background checks
- Individuals on the CMS Exclusion List (unable to bill insurance), Ohio System for Recovery Management (Ohio Medicaid Exclusions), and others unable to complete background checks successfully will not be able to fill this position
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The role may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force regularly. The use of arm and/or leg controls may require exerting force greater than for Sedentary Work. Since the position involves predominantly sitting, it is categorized under light work. Pay Range
- QBHS I: $15-25 (High School/3+ Years Experience)
- QBHS II: $18-28 (Bachelors)
- QBHS III: $22-32 (Master's)
