Job Description
PROJECT ACCOUNTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare timely and accurate project financial reporting for owners, investors and lenders in accordance with GAAP.
- Preparation of general ledger entries and reconciliations for month end closings including daily entries, recurring journal entries, and posting accruals.
- Assist with companywide cash management and banking issues.
- Prepare annual audit and tax return work paper for projects and work with CPA firms to finalize deliverables.
- Assist with reconciling, invoicing, and processing intercompany reimbursements.
- Analyze cash flow for projects as needed for capital transactions.
- Assist with the management of tax filing deadlines and tax payment requirements.
- Assist with year end 1099 and 571L preparation and reporting.
- Prepare monthly construction loan draw lender package for multiple projects.
- Support accounts payable and receivable including reviewing for accurate and timely processing, coding, posting, printing, insurance and W-9 compliance.
- Assist with billing and payment inquiries, contract discrepancies, and other questions.
- Provide support on due diligence for real estate transaction closings.
- Assist with maintaining historical records by scanning and filing documents.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Special projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Minimum 2 – 5 years of overall experience required.
- 1 to 3 years of public accounting experience preferred, CPA designation a plus.
- Yardi and/or Sage software experience preferred.
- Experience in property management/real estate preferred.
- Experience with job costing/construction accounting a plus.
- Knowledge of basic finance.
- Must be computer proficient (Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat).
- High comfort level in fast pace environment.
- Strong desire to meet and achieve department and organization goals.
- Complex critical thinker that demonstrates strong intellectual curiosity and ability to problem solve.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
- Attention to detail, thoroughness, and time management organization skills needed.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
