    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the Pipe Shop Team Leader, this position will be responsible for preparing and threading carbon steel, stainless steel, and occasionally PVC pipe for assembly.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for preparing pipe by cutting, leveling, laying out, positioning, aligning, threading, and gluing.
    • Operate a threading machine.
    • Ensure all assembly is completed per drawings.
    • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits including, but not limited to: working at heights, confined space, overhead crane, etc.
    • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
    • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the fitting trade.
    • Regular attendance in accordance with the attendance policy.
    • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

     

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operate pipe grooving and Victaulic equipment.
    • Perform pressure testing on pipe.
    • Provide personal tools according to the department tool list.
    • Perform set-up, material handling duties, and minor general maintenance.
    • Responsible for area housekeeping.
    • Participate in the processes of continuous improvement including efforts to meet company smart goals.
    • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in an uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions—such as:  dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures.  Potential exposure to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.  Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required.  Must be able to stand / walk at least 90% of the time and sit less than 10% of the time.

     

    KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working hand tools is required.
    • At least one year of threading experience is plus.
    • Ability to learn to read blue prints, ISO’s and other technical documents is required.
    • Strong math skills and problem solving skills are required.
    • High level of energy and motivation.
    • Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, frequent and mandatory overtime, and weekends are required.
    • Must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management, in a team environment.

    • Able to work a 40-hour work week, including one weeknight late shift (11:30am-8pm) and willingness to work Thanksgiving Day morning.
    • Proficient and experienced with Microsoft Office applications; particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Must be able to work efficiently and effectively with customized databases and technology, and conduct Internet research.
    • Must demonstrate strict attention to detail.
    • Valid Washington State Driver License and driving record acceptable to Plymouth insurance providers. Ability and willingness to transport tenants to appointments on a regular basis.
