Valparaiso University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support and Student Services.  

THIS POSITION’S PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Responsible for monitoring and administering the athletic departments student services program, including providing managerial oversight of matters related to the academic status for student-athletes in compliance with University, various Conferences and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Provide individualized on-going student-athlete academic counseling and monitoring as it pertains to NCAA eligibility and graduation requirements: assist compliance with NCAA Eligibility certification; report progress of student- athletes to coaches
• Organize and implement academic, life skills and leadership workshops and programs for student-athletes
• Coordinate student-athletes academic nominations and honor recognition.  Organize the departmental Academic Honors Banquet
• Coordinate and collaborate with our university departments to provide additional support for student athletes, i.e. Counseling Center, Career Center, Access and Accommodations resources Center, etc
• Meet with prospective student-athletes on campus visits to discuss academic expectations and the support that the athletic department provides
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Associate Athletic Director/SWA

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Bachelors Degree in Education, Sports Management or related fields
• Masters Degree in Education, Counseling or Leadership Development preferred
• Five Years experience in college athletics, leadership development or a comparable environment
• Knowledge of NCAA requirements and regulations
• Must be organized and have excellent computer skills as well as computer proficiency

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s preferred, preferably in Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Environmental Science, 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to present materials in meetings, at conferences and to write project documents (including evaluation design plans, results frameworks, data collection and data analysis plans, and progress reports)
• Ability to work well a multi-disciplinary team, good interpersonal skills, is attentive to detail
• Willingness to travel extensively in South Sudan
