We are currently searching for an energetic, motivated Category Manager to join our Team!

    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

    Research and identify innovative procurement solutions across multiple sectors that can be implemented within a specific category of spend.

    Develop, implement and subsequently review procurement strategies for the entire procurement cycle in a specific category spend area.

    Determine and continually monitor current supply market position in the specific category spend to identify capacity constraints and surpluses and proactively devise strategies to mitigate risk.

    Implement supplier rationalization programs and strategies to develop new sources of supply as appropriate to optimize competition.

    Analyze and interpret data to enable the development and implementation of the most appropriate sourcing strategies

    Coordinate with internal staff to review and maintain adequate supplies in order to meet production requirements while keeping inventory to a minimum.

    Vendor, contract, inventory and cost management.

    Manage and support a team of Buyers to deliver 98.5% service level or greater.

    Enforce vendor compliance and ensure that Non Conformance Reports (NCR) are addressed and closed in a timely manner.

    Develop effective relationships with local, national and international supplier groups and sectors to achieve efficiencies in the supply chain.

    Keep abreast of market drivers to take advantage of cost reduction opportunities.

    Assist in the development of KPI’s to manage the effectiveness of Buyers.

    Ensure that MRP parameters are accurate and up-to-date.

    Inventory management for co-manufacturing activities.

    Participate in daily production and weekly filling plan meetings.

    General office administration and backup coverage for other Buyers on the Purchasing Team as required.

    Other projects as assigned.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 5+ years’ experience required; post-secondary education required; professional designation or certification preferred

    INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/CONTACTS: regular access to confidential or sensitive information; frequent internal interactions and/or frequent external interactions; purpose of internal/external contacts regularly related to complex matters; regular selling, negotiating, consulting, teaching/instructing, or advising; above average level of written and verbal communication skills required for successful job performance
