We are currently searching for an energetic, motivated Microbiology Technician to join our Team!

    POSITION SCOPE:

    The Microbiology Laboratory Technician performs Microbiological Testing including but not limited to Sterility Testing, Microbial Limit testing, growth promotion test, Suitability Testing, Environmental Monitoring, Microbial Identification, water testing, PET Testing, Media Preparation & Raw Material Bioburden. This role is also responsible for testing of samples and reviewing analytical documentation, maintaining records and laboratory samples.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

    Isolates & makes cultures of microorganisms including identify microorganisms by examinations

    Maintain all related records within cGMP & GLP guidelines by performing accurate documentation of tests performed & results obtained.

    Provide technical support including troubleshooting of problems, and investigating & documenting out of specification results.

    Participate in testing of samples and development of the analytical test methods and procedures, and assists in the investigation of non-conformances, product failures, customer/consumer complaints and quality incidents.

    Method development

    Perform lab equipment calibration in accordance to procedures, record results & maintain calibration documentation.

    Assist Quality Manager, QC Supervisor, laboratory personnel & other Apollo staff upon request

    Maintain an orderly filing system.

    Adhere to all QA/QC and Company policies and procedures including health and safety. Follow all procedures and wear personal protective equipment as outlined in the health and safety manual.

    May require lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs

    Various lab clean up tasks

    Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    Minimum 3 years in a similar laboratory environment preferably producing similar products to Apollo (shampoo, soaps, lotion, etc)

    Post-secondary education in Chemistry or equivalent

    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

    Basic understanding of Health Canada regulations

    Strong attention to detail

    Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 3 years’ previous experience in a similar role within a similar laboratory and manufacturing environment desired combined with with post-secondary education in an applicable field of study, preferably Microbiology; other job related certification or licenses preferred but not necessary

    INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/CONTACTS: some access to confidential or sensitive information; regular internal interactions and/or some external interactions; purpose of internal/external contacts is not regularly related to complex matters; no selling, negotiating, consulting, teaching/instructing, or advising; average level of written and verbal communication skills required for successful job performance
