    Appellate Attorney – Modern Law Modern Law is a forward-thinking family law firm committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and client-centered advocacy. The Appellate Attorney plays a crucial role in shaping Arizona family law jurisprudence through superior written advocacy, strategic issue framing, and deep knowledge of procedural and substantive family law. This position supports trial attorneys in preserving appellate issues, handling appeals, and contributing to Modern Law’s reputation for legal excellence and thought leadership. Responsibilities: Appellate Advocacy • Research, draft, and file appellate briefs, petitions for review, and motions for reconsideration. • Develop an appellate strategy in collaboration with trial counsel to preserve and position key legal issues. • Present oral argument before the Arizona Court of Appeals or Supreme Court when required. • Review records, transcripts, and trial court rulings to identify appealable issues. Litigation Support & Mentorship • Advise trial teams on preservation of appellate issues during ongoing litigation. • Support attorneys with complex motion practice, including special actions and constitutional challenges. • Mentor associates on appellate writing, issue framing, and case law analysis. Thought Leadership & Contribution • Author CLE presentations, firm blogs, or articles on emerging family law issues. • Participate in Modern Law’s teaching and specialization initiatives. • Engage with the legal community through professional associations and guest lectures. Qualifications: Education: • J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in Arizona. Experience: • Minimum 5 years of family law litigation, including trial and appellate experience. Preferred: • Certified Family Law Specialist or on track to become certified. Skills: • Exceptional legal writing and analytical reasoning. • Proficiency with appellate procedure, rules, and timelines. • Ability to handle multiple complex cases and mentor others. • Strong emotional intelligence and collaboration skills. Compensation: $150,000+ yearly DOE
