Applications Engineer

Konik is partnering with a global manufacturing client who is seeking an Applications Engineer to support customers and internal sales teams with laser-based manufacturing solutions. This role combines process development, customer training, and technical troubleshooting for advanced laser systems used in welding, cutting, drilling, additive manufacturing, and marking applications.
The ideal candidate enjoys working hands-on with complex manufacturing technologies, collaborating with engineering teams, and supporting customers throughout the implementation and optimization of laser processes.
Applications Engineer Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize laser material processes including welding, cutting, drilling, additive manufacturing, and marking applications
- Conduct R&D activities to improve laser processing capabilities and advance existing laser system technologies
- Program and develop laser processes for complex 3D components using manual and CAD/CAM programming methods
- Support system demonstrations, testing, and acceptance activities for customer and internal applications
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customers via phone, remote tools, and on-site visits
- Train customers on the operation, programming, and application of laser systems
- Perform process simulations and time studies for customer applications and new product development
- Identify opportunities for new product features and improvements based on customer requirements
Applications Engineer Qualifications
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical experience in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or related field
- Experience with laser processing, CNC machining, or advanced manufacturing technologies preferred
- Experience with CAD/CAM programming or 3D component programming
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with customers and internal teams
- Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally
- U.S. citizenship required
