    Job Description

    Applied Ecological Services, Inc., a leader in innovative ecological solutions to land and water use, restoration, design and planning, has an immediate opening for a Professional Engineer.  This position will be based out of Brodhead, WI, West Dundee, IL, or Milwaukee, WI depending on candidate’s location.

    Responsible for planning, designing and managing projects with a large engineering component, such as stream restoration, storm water management, and ecological restoration projects involving earth-moving and structural reinforcement.

    Skill Requirements:

    1.       Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographic and geologic data in order to plan and design projects.

    2.       Designs storm water and natural stream systems from concept through construction documents.

    3.       Provides modeling, and design in hydrology, hydraulics, site stabilization, and site design.

    4.       Observes preconstruction field conditions in rugged terrain and stream channels.

    5.       Uses CADD, Civil 3D, GIS and other design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.

    6.       Stays current with relevant statutes, regulations, ordinances, as they relate to engineering.

    7.       Inspects construction sites to assess progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, construction and safety standards.

    8.       Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.

    9.       Reviews, signs and seals drawings and documentation prepared by company staff as necessary.

    10.      Manage or direct projects from conceptual design to CDs and construction oversight.  This includes communicating with the client and managing the design team, schedule, and budget.

    11.    Seeks and secures appropriate licensure reciprocity in other jurisdictions. Manages own state-by-state licenses and any continuing education requirements. AES reimburses for CEU’s and licensing.

    12.    Coordinates with company personnel within other office or regions of the company

    13.    Communicates with administrative personnel regarding financial, clerical, and administrative matters as necessary.

    14.    Meets or exceeds billable goal expectations.

    15.    Proactively identifies and develops new opportunities for the company by establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers.

    16.    Establishes and promotes excellent working relationships with clients and customers, outside service vendors, and public and governmental bodies.

    17.    Makes client requirements consistent with internal services (marketing department, cross-functional team members, accounting staff, etc.) to provide excellent customer service.

     

    Education and/or Experience:

     

    1.       BS or MS from an accredited University Engineering program; and

    2.       Professional Engineer license in one or more states

    3.       A minimum of five to 10 years related experience; or

    4.       Equivalent combination of education and experience.

    5.       Experience in hydrology, modeling, specifically HEC-RAS, required

    6.       Experience in alternative storm water management, green infrastructure, and stream and shoreline restoration design

    7.       PMP certification desirable
