  • Responsibilities

    Aptive is seeking a Software Engineer in support of a concentrated effort of a large Federal Agency to provide operations, maintenance and enhancement of existing large-scale system in the FedRAMP certified AWS cloud.

    Please note: the position is fully teleworking until COVID-19 social distancing restrictions are lifted.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university

    • Experience in the design, development and implementation of new software products or major enhancements to existing software

    • 2-3 years' experience implementing cloud-native software solutions in an Amazon Web Services or Azure cloud environment.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain public trust clearance.

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

    • Hands-on experience developing software in a microservices-based technical architecture.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile (SAFe) Environment providing incremental value delivery.

    • Supports research and advises on the analysis of alternatives in the determination of upgrade, refactor or other solution recommendations.

    • Conducts test driven development in the delivery of high-quality code.

    JOB DUTIES.

    • Coordinates and collaborates with subject matter experts and other architect leads to ensure consistent application of customer mission objectives are met.
    • Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
    • Resolves problems with applications and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
    • Being part of cross functional team provide support developing, unit testing and assisting in the continuous delivery with the development of automated test suites.

    DESIRED SKILLS.

    • Programming experience with Java, SQL, EDI, Linux scripting (batch jobs).
    • Working knowledge of object-oriented design and development skills.
    • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools.
    • Well versed in modern software architectures like micro-services.
    • Strong experience working with COTS product configuration and customization.
    • Prior experience working on Health Care/Insurance projects is a big plus.
    • Ability to synthesize requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and facilitate engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines.
