    Job Description

     

    This role is for a technical project manager who can effectively perform both onsite and remote troubleshooting as well as support and resolve technical issues for a wide range of organizations and types of projects while meeting specified objectives. The primary objective is to have satisfied customers in the utility space and to gain referrals and act as future references.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position will perform technical support for meters/software/hardware and phone/on-site technical support for primarily water utilities, but may work with gas, and electric municipal customers, as required. Assist customers with troubleshooting of meter communications to the meter reading IT infrastructure. Work with and build Automated Meter Reading (AMI) and Drive-by (AMR) systems and building out the licensed radio network using base stations and other infrastructure to collect data to support some of the Smart City/Smart Utility initiatives that our customers have. Must ensure delivery of products and services in adherence with customer requirements. Coordinate with customers’ resources to ensure project results conform to quality, time and budgetary stipulations. Maintain an appropriate relationship with customers and ensure that customers are satisfied with the services provided.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

    • Provide excellent customer service/communications skills within the group, and the other groups within our family of companies with a focus on CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
    • Perform software/hardware phone support and on-site support with our customers primarily on automated meter reading systems, but will also support drive-by, walk-by and manual readings systems as well
    • Resolve customers' issues via past experience, and current working knowledge, or by using the knowledge management tool, which the Technical Support Specialist will help build and populate with knowledge for future use by the team
    • Use the Technology and Project Management Team as a resource that can be leveraged to solve the issue correctly the first time
    • Provide other services and training to customers in use and implementation of software, equipment, and tools used by our customers around our current suite of meter reading and conservation products
    • Work with the sales team and the Utilities to collect, enter, and present the Radio Frequency (RF) propagation study for the AMI network

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Mandatory

    • Computer environments and skills – Windows, Linux, Networking, VPN
    • Software tools – Microsoft Office Suite, networking tools, scripting
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Good driving record
    • Must be self-motivated

    Secondary (not mandatory but preferred)

    • Bachelor’s degree - preferred but not mandatory
    • Microsoft Project Software Experience (big plus)
    • AMI Experience - (plus)
    • Prior water utility industry experience (big plus)
    • Project management experience (plus)
    • Holding PMI PMP or similar credential (plus)
    • RF Engineering experience
