    Job descriptionSmithsonian Affiliated Aquarium of the Bay is looking for a part-time Sustainability Intern to help support a broad array of sustainability-related initiatives to help plan, assist with grants, measure, and act to address climate change in programs, net-zero green business planning, data collection and energy efficiencies and sustainable seafood programs.This position reports to the Sustainability Coordinator. Candidates must be available to work 30 hours per month with a monthly stipend of $2,000. The position is an in-office role and would require the candidate to work onsite at Aquarium of the Bay Administrative Office at 55 Francisco Street, San Francisco.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Research strategies for decarbonization, renewable energy, green practices, and green procurementAssist staff with grants, project management tasks such as planning, tracking sustainable seafood measures and progress, documentation, metrics and reportingDevelop resources for outreach collaterals, social media and web postingsAssist with mailings, filing and special projects as neededOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: ·        Graduate level intern in a relevant field·        Interest in a variety of sustainability-related topic areas·        Exceptionally strong writing, presentation and communications skills·        Strong Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint skillsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Strong writing and research skillsDetail oriented and ability to prioritizeAbility to multi-task and work independentlyDatabase management experience preferredStrong interpersonal skillsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:General enthusiasm for communicating to the general public and continued learningPositive attitudeGood leadership and problem-solving skillsAbility to think on your feet and adapt to new environments and audiencesFlexible and committed to working as a team playerLANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before individuals.PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. This position requires frequent visits to exhibit areas (walking on concrete floors and climbing stairs), extensive time standing, intervals of time outdoors in varying environmental conditions, tolerance of high levels of noise, and extensive public speaking, sometimes in noisy environments. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.POSITION SPECIFICS:This is a 30 hour per month internship, with schedule to be determine by the Sustainability Coordinator. Stipend is $2000 per month. for a three-month time period.
