    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a SolarWinds Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The team provides resources to assist with compliance execution, reporting, and vulnerability-remediation activities. The team is responsible for the overall operation of monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds, the Laboratory’s IT service management (ITSM) tool (ServiceNow), and the facility’s central visibility tool—BigFix.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)

    What You'll Do:

    This position serves as an SME on enterprise service reliability monitoring and development of infrastructure monitoring solutions for the facility.

    Responsibilities:

    • Administering the laboratory’s IT infrastructure monitoring and observability solutions
    • Taking first-hand responsibility for administering & maintaining the alerting system that allows responding to early warning signs of service & mission-critical failures
    • The monitoring, detection, and alerting, of the efficiency and integrity of the IT infrastructure
    • Ensuring data quality and accessibility to monitoring data; and successful operation, upgrading, and integrations of the SolarWinds Orion Platform
    • Provide support for root cause analysis and infrastructure/service optimization

    What You’ll Bring:

      • 1 year of API and automation experience
      • 4 years of developing and documenting systems administration SOPs
      • 4 years of diagnosing, repairing, and troubleshooting system/server hardware
      • 4 years of Infrastructure & Network Awareness
      • 2 years of Scripting Languages: Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, Powershell.
      • 1 year of ServiceNow IT Operations Management 
      • 7 years of Logging and Monitoring (SolarWinds, ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Datadog)
      • 4 years of System Administration
      • 4 years of Windows Server Platform

      Working Knowledge of the Following:

      • API and automation experience
      • Develop and document systems administration SOPs
      • Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot system/server hardware
      • Infrastructure & Network Awareness
      • Scripting Languages: Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, Powershell.
      • ServiceNow IT Operations Management
      • Logging and Monitoring (SolarWinds, ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Datadog)
      • System Administration
      • Windows Server Platform
      • Excellent listening and feedback skills, along with a focus on enterprise solutions
      • Strong collaboration skills to work closely with other teams in IT and Laboratory Research areas to provide high-quality services and value to help build an actionable, data-driven culture.

      • Experience with integrating alerts into ServiceNow (ITOM)
      • Application layer protocols (e.g., HTTP, SMTP, DNS, etc.)
      • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery

      Location: Lexington, MA

      Work Schedule: This position is REMOTE. The candidate is able to work remotely from any location. They may be asked to take up to 2 trips per calendar year to Lexington if the program/project requires it.

      Clearance: An interim clearance is sufficient for the start of this position. An active clearance is preferred.
