    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a Software Developer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The group designs, builds, and tests systems that improve safety and efficiency in the National Airspace System.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
    • Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.

    What You'll Do:

    The development of these systems often involves extensive software writing, testing, and integration, requiring the services of contingency workers specializing in software development.

    What You’ll Bring:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 5 years of Software/Algorithm Development
    • 5 years of Computer Networking (TCP/IP and UDP/IP communication)
    • 5 years of Software Documentation
    • 5 years of C/C++ Programming
    • 5 years of GIT/GITHUB
    • 5 years of Object Oriented Software Design and Development
    • 5 years of Software Design/Development
    • Strong team communication
    • 5 years of Hardware and Software Integration
    • 5 years of Linux/Unix
    • 5 years of Multiprocessing and inter-process communication

    Working Knowledge of the Following:

    • Fluency in C++
    • Fluency in Linux/Unix OS
    • Proficiency with computer networking, including TCP/IP and UDP/IP communication
    • Proficiency with multiprocessing and inter-process communication
    • Multithreaded and Multiprocessor Applications
    • Experience with revision control systems in general and Git in particular
    • Software/Algorithm Development
    • Software Documentation
    • Object-Oriented Software Design and Development
    • Hardware and Software Integration
    • Strong team communication

    And These Skills are a Bonus:

    • Familiarity with the MODBUS protocol
    • Experience with real-time processing systems
    • Experience with aviation, especially airport safety systems
    • Experience developing parsers for decoding binary data streams
    • Experience with radar data processing
    • Proficiency with MATLAB
    • C++11 or later, Stand Template Library, Boost library

    Location: Lexington, MA

    Work Schedule: This position is HYBRID. The individual will be required to be onsite 2-3 days a week. Candidates are expected to be local at the time of the start of the assignment. Final scheduled TBD by hiring manager. Must be within a commutable distance from Lexington, MA.

    Travel: Domestic travel to San Antonio, TX with the possibility of traveling to DC. Travel time is potentially up to a week.

    Clearance: An interim clearance is sufficient for the start of this position.
