    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a Network Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The group maintains and operates an airborne network wireless testbed in support of network research into tactical wireless communication systems. The testbed is composed of COTS switches, routers, and workstations integrated with customized or prototype government-furnished devices. The infrastructure is distributed across several locations and includes aircraft and mobile ground assets.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
    • Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.

    What You'll Do:

    Assist in the maintenance and evolution of the airborne network wireless testbed. Integrate new devices and networks into the testbed. Maintain configuration control of the test bed network and oversee several secure components of the test infrastructure. Develop network plans and evaluate network protocols for use in the test bed.

    What You’ll Bring:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 5 years of Configuration and Management of CISCO, Juniper and Extreme Hardware
    • 5 years of Design and Architecture of Complex Networks
    • 5 years of Network Architecture
    • 5 years of Networking Applications and Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP, and HTTP/S.
    • 5 years of Networking experience (routers/switches/firewalls/servers)
    • 5 years of SSH Server implementation, Linux Networking Configuration, Host Based Firewall, Web Server
    • 5 years of Troubleshoot and Resolve Complex Networking Issues

    Working Knowledge of the Following:

    • Demonstrated proficiency in configuring and maintaining complex networks (Juniper experience preferred)
    • Strong Linux networking experience with the native Linux network stack (Quagga, and/or Free Range Routing experience preferred)
    • Experience automating network configurations using infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Ansible) and/or scripting (e.g. Bash, Python)
    • Demonstrated technical proficiency in network protocol fundamentals and configuration (e.g. DNS, DHCP, routing protocols)
    • A BS in Computer Science or related field plus 5 years of relevant experience

    And These Skills are a Bonus:

    • Configuration and management of data center and cloud networks
    • Operation of SD-WAN and other secure virtual network services over commercial networks
    • Has experience setting up IP network encryption devices and has experience designing and maintaining networks using DoD tactical wireless radios
    • Experience configuring and maintaining commercial radios or DoD tactical radio systems, such as Starlink, INMARSAT, PRC-117G, AirCell, 5G, Wi-Fi, Common Data Link, QNT
    • Served as an ISSO for a complex system or similar experience with classified networks

    Location: Lexington, MA

    Work Schedule: Hybrid model with onsite work being 3-4 days each week. There will be test cycles that require this person to be onsite 100% of the time during the testing. Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.

    Clearance: Interim clearance is sufficient to start, however candidates with an active secret clearance are highly preferred.

    Travel: Estimated at 10% (domestic). Travel would be to Florida for a test event.
