    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking an AI/ML Software Engineer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The candidate must have expertise with Python development and AI/ML tools and libraries, along with modeling and visualization frameworks. Experience developing innovative applications in a research environment is especially useful.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)

    What You'll Do:

    The candidate will work in support of technical staff from multiple programs developing algorithms, datasets, simulation environments, assets, and interfaces used in the development of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and autonomy projects. The candidate must be experienced in software design, development, integration, testing, documentation, and maintenance. Work will be executed primarily in Python in a mixed Windows/Linux environment. Experience with supporting frameworks for visualization and display is highly desired.

    What You'll Bring:

    • 8 years of Image-based data sets
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 8 years of Software/Algorithm Development
    • 8 years of Cloud based architectures (AWS)
    • Currently holds a Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance)
    • 8 years of Software Documentation
    • 8 years of GIT/GITHUB
    • 8 years of Object-oriented Development
    • 8 years of Python/Tensor Flow
    • 8 years of Software Tools
    • 8 years of Containerization (Docker, podman, etc.)
    • 8 years of Experience with DevOps workflows and common CI/CD tools

    Working Knowledge of the Following:

    • Extensive experience with Python Applications
    • Experience truthing and working with image-based data sets
    • Strong object-oriented development skills
    • Experience with modern development tools such as Github, etc.
    • Experience with container-based deployment tools, such as Docker
    • Understanding of the Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery process
    • Experience with cloud-based architectures, such as AWS
    • Work well within a fast-moving, small team environment

    And These Skills are a Bonus:

    • Experience developing simulation environments for use in AI/ML and machine vision applications
    • Expertise in basic machine learning tools (PyTorch, Tensorflow, etc.)
    • Solid understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
    • Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP)

    Location: Lexington, MA

    Work Schedule: This position is REMOTE. The candidate is able to work remotely from any location. They may be asked to take up to 2 trips per calendar year to Lexington Massachusetts if the program/project requires it.

    Travel: Domestic travel is estimated to be 1-2 trips per year, for 2-3 days, to sponsor sites

    Clearance: Candidates should have an active secret clearance in order to be considered for this position due to the nature of the work being done
