Aquinas College | Sports Information - Graduate Assistant
Aquinas College, a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) located in Grand Rapids, Mich., is seeking qualified candidates for a graduate assistant position in the sports information department. The Aquinas athletic department features 30 varsity sports and competes at a high level in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and nationally in the NAIA.
Duties & Responsibilities
This position will work directly with the Director of External Relations and Athletic Communications and the Sports Information Director in various functions of promoting Aquinas athletics, its teams, athletes, and coaches through the following:
• Assist in the day-to-day operation of the sports information department, including writing game recaps, previews, and news stories
• Update and maintain AQSaints.com, the official Aquinas athletics website (via SIDEARM Sports)
• Produce and create content for AQ’s social media outlets (@AQSaints on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), while helping to create graphics and templates through BoxOut Sports program
• Keep in-game statistics using PrestoStats program
• Assist with gameday management and training/oversight of student staff, including video streaming of home events
• Serve as primary contact for select Aquinas sports and assist with several other teams
• Help produce game programs for various sports
• Promote AQ athletics to local, regional, and national media outlets
• Assist with marketing and sponsorship opportunities and fulfillment of current sponsors
• Help with various projects and other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
• Prior experience working in a college sports information department or similar athletics office
• Knowledge of in-game statistics and website software (SIDEARM Sports, PrestoStats, StatCrew)
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Experience with various Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier) is a plus
• Good understanding of social media outlets
• Knowledge and experience working with video editing systems are helpful
• Evening and weekend work is required, along with occasional travel opportunities with teams Education
• Bachelor’s degree is required
• Acceptance of the position is contingent on the candidate’s acceptance to one of Aquinas’ graduate programs
Compensation
• Full cost of tuition for graduate courses
• Yearly stipend
