Job Description
Aquinas International Academy, an American school with students around the world, is looking for dynamic, certified teachers to join our pool of independent contractors. Teachers should be fluent in English and qualified to teach secondary 6-12 courses. Teachers will be part of a collaborative community, centered on helping global students meet their educational goals.
Students join classes on a rolling basis with the average semester being 18 weeks long. We are looking to have teachers on deck in all core subject areas: English, Social Studies, Math, Science, as well as technology, electives, and languages (French and Spanish).

Job Responsibilities
Host Live sessions with individual students and small classes of up to 6–8 students
Support independent study students with consistent monitoring, communication, and intervention strategies
Maintain and prepare accurate and current records and reports including grades, recording links, and attendance
Participate in school-wide improvement initiatives through synchronous continual improvement meetings or asynchronous participation depending on scheduling
Provide timely and specific guiding feedback to students on assessments
Serve as content expert, supporting students in mastering course concepts and objectives
Prepare Live sessions to meet the needs of each student
Utilize student performance and class performance data to drive instructional decisions
Adapt and create supplemental assessments, study aids, activities, etc. to support student learning when needed
Communicate with students both synchronously and asynchronously, answering questions within 24 business hours
Continuous professional growth through school supported professional development or self-motivated professional development
Include parents, leadership, and partners in communication and intervention plans
Maintain contact with colleagues, leadership, and partners in school communication channels and respond within 24 business hours
Monitor student progress and proactively reach out to students that may need additional help with objectives or pacing guidance
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Passion for helping students reach their educational goals
Flexible availability to meet the schedules of our students around the world
Positive and supportive outlook to creatively approach student needs individually
Content area expertise
Expertise in engaging teaching strategies and incorporating technology into learning
Clear background check/fingerprints
High speed internet, up-to-date computer system, headset, webcam
Technology and computer skills
Ability to work independently and follow standard operating procedures
Preferred
2+ years of teaching experience
Online teaching experience in Zoom
Experience with Google Suite and communication tools
AP Summer Training
Master’s degree
Teaching certification
TOEFL/ESL certification
Independent Contractor Information
Stipends average approximately $20-$40 an hour, based on size of class
Teachers serving as Independent Contractors dictate their own schedule and availability. However, once the Independent Contractor agrees to an assignment, it is expected that attendance and punctuality is consistent so AIA students are supported.
Independent contractors are not AIA employees, but rather self-employed professionals whom AIA hires for specific projects. They are not eligible for AIA benefits, including PTO, and holiday pay.
