Inventory Arborist

ArborPro Inc., is an urban forestry consulting firm specializing in GPS tree inventories and a variety of other urban forestry solutions. Our software utilizes the latest in GIS (Geographic Information System) technology to record, track, report, and manage tree data for clients in both the private and public sector.

LOCATION: We are seeking candidates for projects in California, Florida, New Orleans, and other parts of the US. There are opportunities to work on a long-term basis in California but travel will be required when necessary. The ideal candidate need not live in any of these places as all travel expenses and housing will be paid by the company. A knowledge of local tree species in the Southeast, West Coast, or Midwest/Northeast is preferred.

DUTIES: The Inventory Arborist will provide our clients with detailed information and maintenance recommendations for individual trees within the urban forest. This involves an understanding of tree biology, common pests and diseases, tree risk assessment, attention to detail, and a strong knowledge of local and exotic tree species. All data is recorded in the field using a pen-based tablet and GIS/GPS technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preferred - ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain the certification

· Preferred – Two or four-year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related field experience

· Knowledge of tree species and a desire to learn

• Ability to work outside, often in adverse weather conditions

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

• Knowledge of computers and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, etc…

• Valid Driver license / Good driving record

· Ability to travel and work independently of direct supervision
