We are currently hiring for multiple positions across our organization. This listing is for the position of ARBORIST INSPECTOR with Rancho Tree Service in our California operations. An ISA Arborist Certification is required for this position; ISA TRAQ and Utility Specialist designations are highly desirable.
Position Summary
The ARBORIST INSPECTOR will be responsible for a wide range of Inspection-related functions including performing identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines and submitting findings/inspection results and recommendations to client for mitigation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Vegetation Patrol and Prescription: Patrols distribution and/or transmission circuits; prescribes work in accordance with applicable regulations and/or client specifications, evaluates tree conditions for future tree maintenance cycles, property owner notification of work to be performed, tracks work progress, trouble orders/off-cycle inspections , and, when necessary, coordinates work with public and private agencies.
Field Inspections, Including Documentation and Reporting: Conduct accurate and thorough on-site inspections of vegetation management activities using field-based data collection and work management software. Provide detailed recommendations/prescriptive solutions to tree pruning, land clearing, and vegetation control, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulatory standards, and project specifications.
Data Analysis & Office Work: Assist with office-based tasks, including using Microsoft Excel to track inspection results, analyze data trends, and generate reports. Basic analytical skills to interpret inspection data and provide insights for improving inspection processes.
Communication: Thoughtfully communicate prescriptive solutions with property owners, communicate professionally with internal and Utility stakeholders, and provide meaningful feedback to leadership to drive operational efficiency.
Qualifications
2- or 4-year degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Studies, Biology or related discipline or 1 year of experience in vegetation management, or line clearance operations. Utility Vegetation Inspection experience desired.
An ISA Arborist Certification is required for this position; ISA TRAQ and Utility Specialist designations are highly desirable
Bilingual English/Spanish is desired but not required.
Additional certifications in quality control, vegetation management, or related fields are a plus. e.g. CTSP, OSHA 30, QAL/QAC, or equivalent certification.
Strong understanding of ANSI Z133, ANSI A-300, and other applicable State regulations pertaining to Utility Arboriculture.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis skills for reporting and tracking inspection data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create detailed reports and communicate effectively.
Ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle
Ability to work in a variety of climate and terrain conditions
Ability to pass a pre-employment screening and background check, conducted both internally and by our Utility partner. Permanant hiring contingent on successful passage of internal and Utility partner background check.
