Freight Broker Decatur, IL Overland Park, KS or Alpharetta, GA
This is an exempt level position.
Position Summary:
A Freight Broker is responsible for the buying and selling of truck transportation on the spot market, as well as communicating this schedule back to third-party and internal customers. Freight Brokers are able to leverage ADM's current freight spend and shipping network to provide low cost transportation to our customers. A Freight Broker spends most of their day negotiating rates over phone or email while planning current shipments with our carrier base.
Job Responsibilities:
* Buy and sell truck freight on the spot market
* Maintain working relationship with contracted carriers
* Market available truck capacity to new and existing customer base
* Work with Carrier Development Manager and Freight Merchandisers to expand ADM Logistics carrier base
* Book all full truckloads available from the Third Party Account Managers
* Work with Sales Manager to identify customer leads based on freight posting systems
* Develop ADM Logistics presence on all available freight posting systems
* Work with ADM divisional and Transportation teams to identify potential customers
Job Requirements:
* University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. supply chain management, marketing, economics, finance, accounting) or equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
* Ability to excel within high-risk fast-paced work environment.
* Ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions
* Negotiation and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal & external customers
* Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software
* Applications within a windows based operating environment
* Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies & safety programs
