    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced IT Systems & Communications Technician to support the Military Sealift Command (MSC). In this role, you will provide install support and conduct maintenance on various equipment for the Mobile Expeditionary Communications Kits (MECKs) onsite at Naval Station Norfolk and deployed platforms.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform day to day installation, monitoring, testing and Tier 1-2 maintenance actions for network devices (routers and switches), communications equipment, Windows 10 systems and associated peripherals by installing, updating, conducting routine health checks, and troubleshooting/resolving technical issues.
    • Ensure IA compliance by patching, scanning, and providing scans regularly.
    • Work with a dedicated MECK support team to ensure operability and compliance/accreditation for all associated equipment.
    • Assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), drawings, and system documentation.

    Required Skills

    • Have a current IAT II or higher security certification in accordance with IAWF DoD 8570.01M.
    • Must have or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire, an appropriate Computing Environment or vendor certification for associated communications equipment being supported in accordance with IAWF DoD 8570.01M.
    • At least 1 year of experience supporting network configurations, Windows 10, ACAS/Nessus scans, STIG checklists and SCAP scans.
    • Must possess active DoD Secret clearance.
    • Experience conducting STIG/SCAP remediation and applying system patches and upgrades.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to travel up to 60% to support mission requirements.
