    Reports to: Vice President of Operations

    Location: Alaska (Remote-Based with Statewide Travel)

    Travel Requirement: Up to 80%

    Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Area Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance/engineering operations across a portfolio of 12+ hotel properties throughout Alaska. This individual will play a key leadership role in capital project planning, vendor management, and site-level engineering support. The role requires frequent travel and close collaboration with property leadership and engineering teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support, guide, develop/mentor property level chief maintenance engineers as applicable as well as hourly maintenance techs at each location, ensuring consistent maintenance standards including scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) of guestrooms and public spaces.
    • Develop and maintain strong vendor and contractor relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery.
    • Participate in capital expenditure (Capex) projects and coordination across all properties.
    • Conduct property assessments, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
    • Partner with property GMs to align engineering priorities with budget and operational goals.
    • Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and building regulations.
    • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies or time-sensitive maintenance needs across the portfolio.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in facilities or engineering management, preferably in hospitality or multi-property environments.
    • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
    • Comfortable working independently and in remote locations.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently within Alaska.

    Preferred:

    • Technical certifications or degree in engineering or related field.
    • Experience with hotel operations and facilities systems.

    Physical Requirements:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is to:

    • Ability to stand and move around for a minimum of 8 hours.
    • Work approximately 40-50 hours per week.
    • Willing to work long hours, various shifts, split shifts, and on holidays and weekends.
    • Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop, push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs. and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, and boxes weight up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation. Regularly lifting/moving 10 lbs.
    • Able to climb stairs and ladders with potential heights exceeding 24’ or more.
    • Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Adequate vision to operate vehicles and equipment in daylight and darkness.
    • CPR and/or First Aid training desirable.

    NOTICE: The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be always projected.
