    Job Description

    Arepet Industries is seeking an experienced and dedicated Safety Director that will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with MSHA regulations and the highest level of safety performance. The Safety Director will work closely with our management team, employees, and regulatory agencies to drive a safety-first culture across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    MSHA Compliance: Ensure that all operations and activities adhere to current MSHA regulations and standards, conducting regular audits and assessments.

    Safety Program Development:

    Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to our specific industry and operations.

    Create and maintain a Job Safety Analysis on processes and procedures.

    Ensure MSDS binders are updated.

    Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinating with relevant authorities and management.

    Training and Education:

    Oversee and facilitate safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring all personnel are well-informed about safety protocols.

    Conduct new hire orientation including site specific and task training according to MSHA regulations.

    Review and maintain employee training records.

    Conduct visitor site specific hazard awareness training.

    Coordinate with the General Manager to develop corrective action, coach, and train employees to meet or exceed company expectations.

    Coordinate with management on obtaining proper training documentation when employees receive task training.

    Responsible for reviewing, updating and maintaining the organizations Part 46 Training Manual, Annual refresher training, Emergency Action Plan, and other training manuals and records.

    Responsible for ensuring all shifts have CPR/First-aid certified personnel; and maintains applicable certifications.

    Incident Investigation:

    Lead and oversee the investigation of safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

    Responsible for timely incident reporting to MSHA.

    Safety Audits and Inspections:

    Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

    Walk the plant daily, look for hazardous situations, quiz employees on safety hazards, verify employees are wearing proper PPE.

    Identify and address issues that may pose a threat to employee safety or that are deemed hazardous and develop corrective and preventative measures to reduce or eliminate risks.

    Review, maintain, and ensure Workplace Examinations & Pre-operational Vehicle Inspection Reports are being completed accurately for each shift.

    Ensure safety concerns and conditions are corrected accurately and timely.

    Safety Reporting:

    Prepare and submit required safety reports to regulatory agencies and company management, keeping them informed of safety performance.

    Responsible for timely quarterly reporting to MSHA.

    Safety Culture Promotion:

    Foster a culture of safety excellence through effective communication, training, and the promotion of safe work behaviors.

    Regulatory Liaison:

    Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, including MSHA, representing the company during inspections and inquiries.

    Continuous Improvement:

    Continuously assess safety performance metrics and develop strategies for improvement, providing recommendations to leadership.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

    Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in an industry subject to MSHA regulations.

    REQUIRED: Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations and standards.

    Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a plus.

    Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.

    Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.

    Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
