POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops moderately difficult to difficult working solid model drawings from customer drawings, specifications, engineering notes, sketches, etc, ensuring that they meet the customer, company and industry standards/requirements. Meets with Sales Associates, Production Leads, Operators, Purchasing and other departments to effectively manage requirements and understand scope and company capabilities. Utilizes a thorough understanding of SolidWorks 3D modeling software.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge of sheetmetal/fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, materials, welding, assembly methods and quality control standards to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing systems and methods throughout the production process to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Develop accurate and complete routings and drawings specifying the sequence of the manufacturing process, process treatments and finishes for assemblies and fabrications. They may need to order, develop and/or coordinate the purchase and use of special tooling or fixtures.
Responsible for drawing changes, changes to routings/travelers, supplier
requirements etc. as well as coordinating the process to ensure all changes are made accurately and expeditiously.
Review work to be subcontracted and advise and assist subcontractors on
production engineering and manufacturing inquiries.
Utilizes a Solidworks CAD (sheetmetal functions) workstation to prepare
engineering drawings consisting of standard arrangements, layouts, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures. Works closely with other Designers, Engineers and Production Personnel to ensure a coordinated design.
Possess extensive sheet metal manufacturing knowledge.
Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings. Reads and understands orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings.
Makes required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
Responsible to revise and maintain updated Work Instructions relative to engineering.
Performs all other duties as assigned. Experience & Education:
4-year technical degree.
and/or 5-plus years of 3-D Sheet Metal Modeling experience.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Solidworks; 3-D Sheet Metal Modeling, computer tools and systems.
Experienced with manufacturing in a sheet metal environment.
Experience with an ERP system (preferably JobBOSS).
Communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Ability to meet timelines.
Strong attention to detail; meticulous, patience.
Ability to create aesthetically pleasing and useable drawings.
Math (geometry) skills.
Requires working on a computer the vast majority of the day.
