    Job Description

    WHO WE ARE:

Arieca, a venture capital funded spin-out of Carnegie Mellon University, is pushing the boundaries of materials functionalities in the most demanding applications. Our proprietary liquid metal embedded elastomer (LMEE) technologies allow for unprecedented performances in applications across semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, and healthcare industries. Our TIMbberTM product line is being qualified by leading semiconductor manufacturers. Our Thubber® product line is developing solutions for new stretchable display and medical applications.

    THE POSITION:

Arieca is looking for an intern who can assist the chief commercialization officer (CCO) and his team install the necessary infrastructure for successful market introduction of our thermal interface materials (TIM).

This role is intended for upper class undergraduates and graduate students. No industry specific subject-matter expertise is required, but the candidate should be prepared to learn about the industry guided by the existing staff. Experience with good lab practices (GLP) and good measurements practices (GMP) will be beneficial. Strong analytical and communication skills are required as we need to collect data, optimize operations and develop processes and systems that work well within the constraints of a startup. Engagement with external vendors and ecosystem partners is possible.

This will be a diverse role, which includes in-person attendance at our Pittsburgh facility. Arieca follows all CDC Covid related guidelines in our workspace. The assignment will consist of approximately 60% lab time, 20% manufacturing readiness/supply chain set-up, and 20% market research.

    Anticipated assignments during this internship:

    • Define Design of Experiments (DoE) test suites, conduct experiments, and document results
    • Perform correlation analysis, review data with development team, and discuss possible optimizations
    • Define experiments and collect data to validate proposed QA (quality assurance) and QC (quality control) plans
    • Support defining the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for development and production manufacturing
    • Optimize workflow tracking (i.e. Forms on Fire) methodology
    • Work with CCO to analyze market data and assess market potential, requirements, and price expectations

The term of the internship will run from May through August.
