The Mechanical Technician will have responsibility for all the mechanical equipment in our Latex manufacturing at the Dalton, Georgia site. The Technician will provide mechanical expertise in a highly automated, integrated, and computerized chemical processing plant; will maintain service schedules, PPM, as well as effectively diagnose and mechanical problems; will manage improvement projects and consistently apply a continuous improvement approach to work.
This role will be located in Dalton, GA and report directly to the Maintenance Leader.
Activities
- Maintain mechanical equipment in accordance with reliability programs and service schedules. Keep prompt and up to date records.
- Diagnose and resolve all mechanical problems.
- Follow procedures and complete a diverse range of tasks and inspections to keep the plant in compliance with external and internal requirements.
- Provide on-the-job mechanical support and training to every technician.
- Help manage the interface between external mechanical resources and operational priorities.
- Complete mechanical preventative maintenance activities.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and make improvements when appropriate.
- Support plant activities related to Life Critical Standards (SWP, LOTO, CSE) acting as Subject Matter Expert in Mechanical related areas.

Required Educations, Skills & Experience
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Basic computer skills are preferred, especially in Microsoft products.
- Knowledge in SAP or other ERP systems for maintenance is preferred.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and work in a team environment.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Prior maintenance experience in a production facility is preferred (min of 6 years).
- Prior experience utilizing Distributed Process Control Systems is not required, but preferred (min of 6 years).
- Experience in chemical manufacturing/process industry, especially on pump seals.
- Relevant maintenance certificates per local regulatory requirement.
- Understand and knowledgeable on all EH&S standards that are applicable to maintenance (i.e. Safe Work Permit, Isolation of Energy, etc.).
- Collaborate with subcontractors on some specific project tasks (ex. chiller maintenance, HVAC).
- Must be physically able to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 50 pounds. During periods of plant shutdown, prolonged walking, bending, and squatting are also required.
- Must be able to work independently without a lot of supervision.
- Must be able to wear a Full Face Respirator and be successfully fit tested.
