    The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement will serve Valparaiso University by creating meaningful relationships with alumni and other constituents to advance the University’s mission. The Assistant Director will be a passionate advocate for University priorities and will participate in a best-in-class alumni and affinity engagement model aimed at delivering programming that inspires active involvement and support.

    The Assistant Director will build personal, professional, and intellectual programming to develop and implement career and professional development strategies, create pride in the university, and provide opportunities for volunteerism, learning, and connections to cultivate participation between University alumni and the campus community. The Assistant Director will report to the Director of the Career and Alumni Network within the Office of Advancement.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Manage and help develop a strategic alumni engagement program; develop, implement, execute, and measure an alumni engagement plan, which includes in-person and online programming
    • Build and oversee alumni affinity networks
    • Develop and implement engagement strategy and promotion of alumni engagement programs
    • Manage a portfolio of alumni volunteers
    • Assist with the planning and execution of events in coordination with the Special Events Coordinator
    • Provide prompt follow-up to all alumni interactions and utilize CRM to track all communication
    • Develop a strong understanding of Valparaiso University Career & Alumni Network (VUCAN) programs and priorities
    • Assist in stewardship activities and events for all constituencies
    • Regularly review key performance indicators to track progress and adjust strategy as needed
    • Maintain strong relationships with Advancement staff and University leaders across campus
    • Willingness and ability to travel and participate in evening and weekend alumni activities

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 3-4 years of experience in a related field
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Demonstrates a high commitment to quality, thoroughness, and accuracy
    • Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
    • Experience working with alumni and managing alumni affinity groups
    • Ability to analyze and interpret data sets to identify trends and areas of focus
    • Proficient in Microsoft and Google Suites

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in a related field
    • Knowledge of career development topics and functions
    • Knowledge of current alumni engagement practices
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence while presenting to large audiences
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships through active listening and critical thinking skills
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and social media tools, including analytics
    • Ability to quickly master other technological tools such as 12Twenty, Slate, iModules, or other technologies as needed

  • Qualifications
    • Strong understanding of civil/site, architectural/finish, mechanical and electrical work
    • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods), craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules, and safety required
    • Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal, and supervisory skills are essential
    • Ability to read, understand and interpret plans and specifications
    • Thorough working knowledge of OSHA and safety, security, and environmental rules and regulations
    • Experience working with Primavera, Prolog, and Viewpoint
    • Excellent with problem-solving and planning
