  • Responsibilities

    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for all aspects of data analysis, from meeting with stakeholders to define and gather requirements through the delivery of insightful and actionable analytics. The analyst is tasked with building/reporting of KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, statistical models, and ad hoc analytics to ensure that business processes are conducted in a controlled and efficient manner. Extraction, cleansing, and transformation of data are all necessary functions to aid the analyst in the maintenance of established reporting as well as in the creation of ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by department managers within the Credit Union.

     

     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

     

    • Gathers business intelligence from a variety of sources including company data, industry and field reports, public information, or purchased sources.
    • Assesses market strategies by analyzing related products, markets, or trends.
    • Compiles business intelligence or trends to support actionable recommendations.
    • Participates in special analytical projects and advanced technical reporting initiatives.
    • Produces reports based on quantitative and qualitative information. Builds dashboards and conveys patterns, problems, and areas of improvement. Streamlines reporting processes.
    • Maintains current knowledge of industry and business trends through communication with professional organizations, suppliers, customers, competitors, and other informed individuals.
    • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal, and state laws, regulations, and guidance, within the scope of the position to include those related to anti-money laundering compliance (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
    • Attends and participates in all meetings, trainings and committees as required.
    • Participates in community and civic events to promote awareness of the Credit Union in the community.
    • Satisfactorily demonstrated Fortera’s core values.
    • Ensures work area and assigned equipment is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
    • Data Analysis – Sources, compiles, and interprets data. Analyzes data for accuracy and efficiencies. Effectively communicates analysis output.
    • Produces dashboards, KPIs, scorecards, executive decks, and exception tracking reports on a routine basis. Must be quick at understanding various critical business processes and must be able to interpret data related to these processes to make decisions and root out data integrity issues.
    • Develops streamlined and automated approaches for gathering and delivering data, thereby reducing manual business processes where possible.
    • Collaborates with other analysts and engineers to optimize dashboards and develop self-service capabilities
    • Acts as BI SME for Spotfire users across the company.
    • Distributes detailed reports to a variety of stakeholders with the ability to provide summary analysis clearly and concisely.
    • Designs and implements BI metadata and data dictionary design and standards.
    • Designs and develops enterprise-wide data analysis and reporting solutions

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Math, or Computer and Information Science required. Master’s degree preferred.

                                                   

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:              

    • Knowledge of financial services industry preferred.

     

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:          

    • Minimum 2 years working in business intelligence, insights, analytics, extract, data load, and transformation.
    • Experience with visual dashboarding tools; Spotfire is preferred but Qlik, Tableau, Microstrategy, ThoughtSpot, PowerBI, or similar tool will be considered.
    • Intermediate level of experience in MS Excel.
    • Experience with SQL
    • Jira or confluence experience a plus.
    • Project Management experience highly preferred.
