    The VICE PRESIDENT, DATA STRATEGY & GOVERNANCE will manage, coach, and oversee the performance and development of associates that focus on data management and business intelligence solutions that enable standardized data structures and actionable business decisions. The Vice President’s primary focus will be providing data that consistently reflects the portfolio accounting Books of Records of the company by implementing standard data management processes. This role will engage closely with all Shared Services including Finance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Solutions. The overall objective for this role is developing and implementing a roadmap that migrates Aristotle to modern, standardized Business Intelligence solutions and standardized reporting.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    1. Data Mastering & Governance

      • Establish single sources of truth for investment data domains, immediate focus on holdings, transactions & account domains
      • Draft policies and data standards
      • Document trading and operations workflows that impact data
      • Metadata Management: create and maintain a business glossary, data dictionary, and data controls
      • Establish a governance framework, including setting up a governance data council and working groups to create a forum for data strategy updates, provide oversight and clear recommendations to Management, and serve as a point of escalation for data-related issues
    2. Data Quality:  Leverage governance standards to ensure data has the proper checks and balances and is being monitored by the appropriate team

    3. Data Architecture & Delivery:  Create a centralized, single source of truth data repository (data warehouse or similar) for internal reporting and consumption by downstream applications (Charles River, Salesforce, FactSet, etc.) that is flexible, scalable and has the proper governance oversight

    4. Data Integration: Create a roadmap and champion the adoption of a single-source data repository by downstream applications

    5. Data Metrics: Leverage BI to create dashboards, data scorecards that provide users with data metrics

    6. Internal Reporting: Create tangible reports for internal use that source data from our data repository

    Expected business value to include, but not be limited to,

    1. Utilize investment data to improve the decision-making process
    2. Establish and define data ownership and stewardship roles and responsibilities
    3. Increase transparency and confidence in data
    4. Consistent use of business terms
    5. Produce and maintain metadata artifacts (business glossaries, data dictionaries, and data controls)
    6. Data Management oversight

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

    • Proven ability to engender trust in data by defining data strategy and implementing standard data governance models
    • Deep understanding of where golden copies of data should reside and how these data elements are / should be used across departments
    • Ability to develop and articulate an approach to effectively distribute certified data to minimize error and minimize duplicate entry
    • Proven track record of implementing Power BI or Tableau including implementing quality controls/dashboards and standardizing reports across systems
    • Ability to persuade others and effectively communicate with employees of varying levels of technical ability
    • Understanding of the strategic and tactical value of data stewards, and the ability to recommend and help train department owners to become effective stewards
    • Working knowledge of Settlements, Reconciliation, Corporate Actions, Account Administration, Charles River, Compliance Restrictions, Portfolio Performance, Composite Performance, Trading, Bloomberg, FactSet, and both Internal and External Reporting
    • Expert knowledge of equity, fixed income, and more complex securities demonstrated by setting up instruments in the OMS or Portfolio Accounting system
    • Understanding the lifecycle of a trade from setup, to order creation, to execution, to allocation, to settlements, to reconciliation, and finally through reporting
    • Must be systems-oriented, enjoy learning new investment strategies, and be a self-motivated learner.
    • Four-year Undergraduate Degree from accredited college or university or equivalent working experience.
    • Minimum ten years of data management, data analytics, and reporting for an investment management firm.
