    Job Description

    Job Summary:

    This position will work with program areas throughout the agency to develop new, high-quality Tableau data dashboards that meet the needs of programs and leadership; will help to identify, document and apply best practices and standardized procedures for data visualization and data sharing using Tableau; will help to support, train and build the community of other Tableau users throughout the agency; will work with the agency's core Tableau team to support work planning processes for content maintenance; and will help plan for the continued use of Tableau across the agency.

    Job Duties:

    − Uses Tableau to develop queries, reports and dashboards to assist in analyzing issues, applying best practices in data analytics and visualization and verifying that standards for quality and confidentiality are met. − Partners with internal and external customers to gather and validate business requirements in support of Tableau dashboard design and functionality. − Participates in and supports work planning processes for creating and maintaining Tableau dashboards and Tableau server content in an effective and efficient way. − Assists in designing, developing, and delivering end-user training and associated resource materials for Tableau developers or other agency program staff. − Assists in data stewardship and data governance activities

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

    Knowledge of: − Current Tableau Desktop functionality. − Strategies and best practices for effective data visualization. − Applicable laws, rules, policies regarding security, privacy, and management of confidential data. − Statistical and business analysis. − IT lifecycle and information system design. − Qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring program/project efficacy. − Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies. Skills in: − Developing effective Tableau dashboards and providing technical assistance for dashboard development to business partners. − Developing training materials and documentation for internal and external partners. − Working with a team to develop and implement policies and procedures. − Effectively communicating data to both professional and lay audiences. − Performing analytic functions including workflow and statistical analysis. − Oral and written communication. Ability to: − Collaborate with others throughout the agency to support the use of Tableau to meet program needs. − Present ideas visually, orally and in writing in a clear, concise manner to partners and stakeholders. − Plan, organize, and prioritize projects. − Evaluate information and make recommendations. − Assess stakeholder and end user information needs. − Promote the use of business intelligence to make effective business decisions. − Collaborate with IT/BI and program staff to achieve shared goals. − Perform analysis and evaluation. − Engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders. − Support a diverse multi-cultural workforce that reflects the community, promotes equal opportunity at all levels of public employment, and creates an inclusive work environment that enables all individuals to perform to their fullest potential free from discrimination.

    Selective Preference(s):

    The ideal candidate will have: − Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field that works with data analytics. − Combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described. 5 - 6 years of relevant experience required. 1 year of work experience may be substituted for each year of preferred education.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    Driving is required for State Business. − Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). − Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issues pursuant to A.R.S. §36-113. − Tableau certification (Certified Associate or Certified Professional) a plus.

    Retirement:

    To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will make a contribution to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27 week wait period for contributions to begin.
