    Medical Interpreter - Spanish

    Banner Staffing Services is looking for Medical Interpreters. Language and Cultural Services provides Medical Interpreters 24 hours, 7 days a week to all hospital departments (inpatient and outpatients services include) for Tucson locations.

    The ideal candidate will have fluency in English and Spanish, one year of experience as a full-time Spanish Medical Interpreter in an acute healthcare setting, previous experience in patientservices or admitting, fluent (Spanish) medical terminology skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Effective problem solving, organizational and time management skills with flexibility in responding to multiple demands.

    Job Summary

    This position provides interpretation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and their families. This position acts as a neutral party in the role as a conduit of information between healthcare providers and patients and families.

    Essential Functions

    • Acts as a conduit of information for all clinical services including medical terminology and support services, policies and procedures to LEP patients.

      • Interprets patient and/or family questions or concerns to appropriate healthcare staff to optimize the patient care experience.

        • Documents accurately, completely and clearly all interpretation services.

          • Serves as a cultural mediator, as necessary and when appropriate, to enhance communication between patients/family, as it relates to medical care.

            Minimum Qualifications

            Must posses a level of knowledge typically acquired through the completion of an associate's degree in communications or health care related field or equivalent experience.

            Requires fluency in English and target language of interpretation and a proficiency level typically achieved with 1 year of experience as an interpreter. Requires an understanding of medical terminology. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, problem solving, strong human relations skills, organizational and time management skills and flexibility in responding to multiple demands.

            Preferred Qualifications

            Bachelors degree in communications or health care related field.

            Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
