Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Lead Bartender to join our team. A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the hospitality industry and an entrepreneurial spirit.
A Lead Bartender is responsible for anticipating the needs of guests and providing them with everything they need for a complete experience at the bar. They are an ambassador for the hotel and engage with guests through genuine hospitality at all times. While the primary role is to prepare cocktails and beverages for guests, the role is also to act as the leader behind the bar during service. The person in this position must possess strong communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of LINE policies, procedures, and expectations.
Because of the fluctuating demands of the company’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Train all new bartenders and provide ongoing development to existing bartenders.
Ensure all Arlo Grey cocktail recipes, builds, garnishes, and prep procedures are executed according to standard.
Facilitate a welcoming, organized and professional bar environment.a. Communicate information directly with MODs regarding daily operations, prep needs and staffing. 4.Assist MOD with beverage orders when needed and ensure the bar is properly stocked at all times.
Inform MOD when any liquor, mixers, tools, equipment or cleaning supplies are low and need to be ordered.
Assess and report to MOD on par levels, keg levels (if applicable), and prep quantities throughout the week.
Review and update the bar calendar each month with all pertinent information including features, tastings and training needs.
Assist MOD with monthly inventory including accurate counting and assisting in identifying variances.
Ensure health code standards and safety procedures are adhered to behind the bar at all times.
Support the bar team during staffing shortages, call-outs, or other unforeseen situations.
Greet every guest promptly with a smile and maintain eye contact.
Maintain a courteous, gracious and professional demeanor at all times.
Establish and maintain strong communication and teamwork with fellow colleagues and all hotel departments.
Offer guests an enjoyable experience that conforms to the LINE’s standards of excellence, professionalism and friendliness.
Demonstrate advanced understanding and knowledge of the sequence of service, following this sequence for every guest.
Possess expert knowledge of the POS system to correctly and strategically communicate guest orders.
Demonstrate expert proficiency in cocktail preparation, spirits knowledge, wine service and bar-related subject matter.
Responsible for receiving payment for all items ordered, correct cash handling and gratuity distribution. 19.Take ownership of all service issues brought to your attention by guests. 20.Maintain increased awareness of safety issues throughout the hotel, including all TABC standards for alcohol service. 21.Participate in scheduled departmental and administrative meetings as requested. 22.Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions. 23.Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements.
Knowledge, Requirements and Skills
High-school diploma or GED preferred
Bachelor’s degree, hotel or related experience preferred
Bartending experience in high-volume or cocktail-focused dining preferred
Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to multitask
Excellent communication skills
Able to handle a large volume of guest interactions in an efficient and courteous manner
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet
Able to work well under pressure and operate as a team player
