Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a comprehensive “system” for tracking weapon maintenance history, including round counts, inspection results, and repair actions. This system shall be provided to and maintained under the control of PRTF armory personnel.
Provide reports summarizing weapon conditions, maintenance trends, and component lifecycle data. These reports shall be submitted to the Armory Chief for review and validation. Provide daily round count and maintenance issue reports.
Provide a monthly report including round count and maintenance with an analysis of the wear of components and service life expectancy of the service weapons
Inspection of weapons before issue and post-firing:
Inspect weapons and components daily, both before and after use, to ensure cleanliness and serviceability. Report unserviceable components to armory personnel and document any issues that prevent the safe and serviceable use of the weapon.
Perform Limited Technical Inspections (LTI) of M4s (TM 05538/10012-23&P/1 ) and Pre-Fire Inspections (PFI) (TI 8005-24/20I) of M18 Pistols per TM 13141A-23/1. The contractor will document findings and report suspected weapons failures to the armory personnel.
Document inspection findings and relay information to PRTF armory personnel for determination of necessary maintenance or repair actions.
Using provided tools, disassembles weapons, assemblies, subassemblies, and other components. Examine for defects, misalignments, and malfunctions. Replaces barrels, firing pins, springs, trigger mechanisms, shell ejectors, and other parts and assemblies. Modifies small weapons by replacing worn or obsolete parts, using hand and power tools, precision gauges, test instruments, jigs, and alignment devices to make repairs, modifications, and adjustments. Applies final finishes and test fires and/or performs operational checks of arms repaired to ensure safety, accuracy, and ease of operation.
Perform repairs to weapons in accordance with TM 05538/10012-23&P/1 for M4s and TM 13141A-23/1 for M18s.
Identify parts in the repair parts and special tools lists of TM 05538/10012-23&P/1 for M4s and TM 13141A-23/1 and annotate NIINs and quantities to PRTF Armory personnel for order via NAVMC 1018 tag in accordance with TM 4700-15 1H Ground Equipment Records Procedures and MCO 4790.2 Field Level Maintenance Management Policy.
Clean weapons and components per TM 05538/10012-23&P/(M4 Maintainer TM), TM 05538/10012-10/1 (M4 Operator TM), TM 13141A-23/1 (M18 Maintainer TM), and TM 13141A-10/1(M18 Operator) utilizing approved cleaning materials, methods and tools made available by PRTF as required.
Provide input to the Monthly Report.
Attend related training as required.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proof of Graduation from a nationally recognized gunsmithing school that includes specific training modules on the disassembly, assembly, inspection, and repair of AR-15 platform rifles (of which the M4 is a variant) and/or the SIG Sauer M18 pistol or qualification through a relevant United States Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) related to small arms repair is also acceptable.
Experience
The ideal candidate is a former Marine who has experience as an armorer.

Additional Information
Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
Required to perform work in connection with a covered contract and, therefore, must comply with Safer Federal Workforce standards
