Armstrong Growers, a division of Armstrong Garden Centers Inc., is partnered with SBI Software; a customized operating platform that is specialized for the horticultural growing industry which operates our internal operations including: inventory control, production, customer ordering, shipping, accounting, and overall operations management.
Summary Duties and Responsibilities:
We are currently hiring for an experienced IT/Database Administrator to oversee our systems platform as well as support our internal teams. This position also collaborates closely with both the SBI Engineers as well as Axicom; IT Consultants & Cybersecurity partner.
In the future, this position will also be tasked with onboarding and supporting our east-coast growing operation (Pike Farm Nursery) as we introduce the SBI Operating platform to that division.
While SBI/Axicom knowledge is preferred, experience with general corporate operating platforms is welcomed. This position can be remote but will be based on Pacific Standard Time. (Southern California or Atlanta, Georgia preferred)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with and supports all departments within Armstrong Growers and soon Pike Farm Nursery with: Inventory Control, Sales, Operations, Shipping, Production, and Accounting to ensure efficiency for each.
- Troubleshoots any/all system/IT issues that arise with SBI/Axicom on a priority basis, and coordinates with both.
- Assists SBI and Axicom when onboarding new sites or equipment as growth and system improvements continues.
- Manages any ongoing system “cases” for correction / improvement, keeping Management informed of progress.
- Oversees the company database including customers, products, and inventory data.Collaborates closely with Production in product creation, pricing, and implementation within the system.
- Works closely with our VP/GM on annual price increase, implementation, and maintains the pricing system.
- Works with Production/Sales to keep custom, SKU, UPC and Tax details current.
- Monitors the health and functionality of the SBI database and troubleshoots minor issues before escalating.
- Administers internal database access, permissions, and security, and helps provide system training for employees.
- Responds to emergency calls after hours and facilitates resolution as needed.
- Attends weekly Zoom production meetings to present and update management on issues and progress of projects.
Education, Prior Work Experience and Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
- At least 5 years’ systems platform computer experience, with at least 1 year of database management experience.
- College degree PREFERRED. Bilingual in English and Spanish PREFERRED.
- Be computer literate with the Windows operating system, Google products, and cloud networks. Ability to perform basic IT troubleshooting, before escalating issues.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and constantly re-prioritize as needed.
- Ability to maintain a database and ensure its updated, as well as conduct data analysis and generate reports.
- Ability to work independently making sound decisions, as well as being part of a team,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, while maintaining professional courtesy and demeanor.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented and have good problem-solving skills.
Work Schedule- What to expect!
- Full Time (Monday-Friday), as well as occasional weekend overtime to respond to emergency database or system issues as needed.
