    Description:
    The American Airlines CR Smith Museum is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to educating visitors about how an airline operates and about the history of the airline industry. Museum education programs provide pathways into STEM aviation careers for all youth, including underserved and underrepresented, with a focus on hands-on experiences. The Museum is on an exciting growth trajectory post-pandemic, having recently received a number of awards for Museum experience and STEM education.

    The goal of the Visitor Experience Associate will be to ensure visitors have a smooth, efficient and enjoyable experience while they are at the Museum. The role will entail a range of tasks that may evolve over time, including welcoming guests to the Museum, providing direction on the use of interactive devices, maintaining exhibits, making announcements, assisting in the Museum Store and supporting with informal programs. The Associate will maintain an orderly gallery, prioritizing exceptional visitor experience and safety. **

    Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:**
    • Welcome visitors and address initial questions.
    • Introduce visitors to flight simulators, explaining, and demonstrating proper usage and taking other steps to give visitors an engaging and inspiring experience.
    • Periodically announce and run Museum movie throughout shift.
    • Support Museum Store to ensure appropriate coverage including, but not limited to, transacting sales and restocking.
    • Communicate with visitors about daily activities and events.
    • Provide information regarding all Museum amenities.
    • Maintain clean and orderly exhibit areas, furniture, simulators, and other exhibits and inform the team if items require attention.
    • Proactively communicate with guests who need assistance, including guests who are lost, ill, or injured.
    • Support in any emergency situations, medical situations, and technical situations.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned. **

    Qualifications:**
    • Must be 18 years of age and older
    • Must treat guests in a friendly, professional, and inviting manner
    • Be able to exercise active listening skills and positive body language through smiling, sustaining eye contact and keeping good posture.
    • Must be able to interact with all Museum guests effectively and politely in a busy, fast paced environment
    • Be able to climb stairs
    • Be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
    • Be able to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
    • Spanish language fluency is a plus

    This is a part-time, contractor position for 19 hours per week. Candidates must be able to work Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Friday 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
