    Job Description

    The Art Teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive visual arts curriculum to students in grades 7-12. This role fosters creativity, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the arts while aligning instruction with Arkansas state standards and KIPP Delta's educational philosophy.​

    Key Responsibilities

    Curriculum and Instruction

    • Develop and implement engaging lessons and community projects that meet the Arkansas K-12 Fine Arts frameworks.
    • Instruct students in various art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital media.
    • Integrate art history and cultural studies to provide context and depth to art instruction.
    • Utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

    Classroom Management

    • Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
    • Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and discipline.

    Collaboration and Professional Development

    • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches to art education.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in art education.
    • Engage with parents and the school community to showcase student artwork and promote the arts program.

    Other Responsibilities (As Needed)

    • Supporting student recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.
    • Write letters of recommendation for students.
    • Additional tasks as requested to support student achievement, school culture, and team collaboration.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, or related field required.

    Licenses: Standard Arkansas Teaching License in Art Education 7-12; or eligible for licensure through reciprocity;

    or enrolled in an Alternative Licensure Program (ALP).

    Experience: Prior teaching experience at the secondary level preferred.

    • Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks.
    • Ongoing participation in professional development activities as required by ADE.
    • Strong knowledge of visual arts techniques and art history; proficiency in integrating technology into art instruction.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Experience teaching in a KIPP or other high-performing charter school environment preferred.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

    Compensation

    Teacher salaries will be based on the experience, degree level, and licensure per the SY 2025-26 Salary Schedule.
