    Position Details

    Title: Art Walk Coordinator

    Classification: Seasonal, Part-time, up to 30 hrs. per week

    Compensation: $19-$22 per hour, depending on qualifications, not benefits eligible

    Reports to: Sr. Community Building & Engagement Manager (Sr. CB&E Manager)

    Position Overview

    Third Friday Art Walk is more than an event, it's a curated celebration of creativity, community, and cultural connection and has become a beloved tradition of our community. The Art Walk Coordinator oversees the execution of all Art Walks. The coordinator is responsible for event logistics and operations, ensuring each event runs smooth and delivers an engaging experience for attendees.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Event Program Coordination

    1. Coordinate local artists, vendors, and performers for each event, ensuring a diverse and engaging lineup for the event.
    2. Review and approve applications to ensure they meet requirements, align with event goals, and community representation.
    3. Execute one (1) monthly collaboration with local community partners such as KCK Farmer’s Market, Strawberry Hill Neighborhood Association, etc.
    4. Coordinate interactive art experiences and accessible art activities for attendees as well as outdoor dining areas.
    5. Ensure 6th Street Storefronts have event programs and specials details submitted for promotion no later than two weeks before each event.
    6. Adhere to safety protocols to ensure personal and team safety in outdoor and high-traffic environments.

    Event Logistics and Operations

    1. Coordinate third party service providers (traffic control, waste management, security, etc.) providing detailed direction and serving as the primary point of contact.
    2. Execute contingency plans to address challenges related to outdoor conditions or other potential issues if they arise.
    3. Recruit and supervise event volunteers to ensure smooth operations, effective support, and team readiness.
    4. Resolve issues that arise during the event and follow up with appropriate parties post-event if necessary.
    5. Adjust to event logistics and operations as needed to ensure efficiency and fairness in event execution.

    Administrative

    1. Manage the Third Friday Art Walk inbox, providing warm, timely, clear, and accurate responses to all emails.
    2. Utilize AirTable to track progress on each event's coordination, to review applications and to send mid-season and post-season surveys to all participants to collect event impact data.
    3. Attend bi-weekly all staff Build WyCo meetings and required trainings at 2 South 14th Street, Kansas City, KS, 66102.

    Qualifications

    1. Event Planning: Experience coordinating events, festivals, markets is strongly preferred.
    2. Arts & Community: Passion for the arts and enjoys working with artists, makers, local businesses and community members.
    3. Organizational Skills: Very comfortable handling multiple tasks, timelines, and relationships simultaneously.
    4. Adaptative Mindset: Strong capability and confidence in adapting to changes and unforeseen issues.
    5. Communication: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
    6. Bilingual: Ability to write and speak Spanish is highly preferred.
    7. Relationship Building: Confident collaborating with new people to connect them to the Art Walk.

    2. Physical Activity: Regular movement, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting, is required.
    3. Lifting & Carrying: Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs., including event equipment and supplies.
    4. Tool & Equipment Use: Safe handling of tools and equipment such as sound systems, tents, tables, and chairs.
    5. Communication: Clear verbal and written communication is essential for coordinating with multiple participants.
