The Play Therapist will use play therapy techniques with child clients to observe and gain insights into the child’s issues. The primary focus is to work with the child to explore emotions and deal with unresolved trauma, model new coping mechanisms, and redirect inappropriate behaviors through play. Responsibilities: • Assess the emotional needs of children through play. • Provide treatment of children individually or in a group setting. • Maintain electronic records within the Artemis system. • Maintain confidentiality. • Guide children in the development of skills and strategies to deal with developmental issues. • Encourage children to express their feelings and to discuss what is happening in their lives. • Evaluate a child’s physical or mental condition based on review of playtime treatment plan. • Recommend treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge. • Act as a child advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations. • Consult as necessary with team members. Qualifications: • Experience working with children in a clinical or school setting. • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins. • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. • Maintain credentials and licensure. Education and Experience • A Master’s degree in psychology, counseling or a related field required. Compensation: $75 - $100 hourly
