IMMEDIATE OPENING MORTGAGE UNDERWRITER

The underwriter is responsible for verifying and analyzing complex information in order to evaluate and decision on conventional mortgage loan applications. The underwriter will underwrite in accordance with policy and procedure to ensure mortgage applications meet regulatory guidelines.

JOB DUTIES

• Underwrite and decision conventional loans to comply with state and federal regulations.
• Analyze appraisal report and collateral offered in the loan application to determine acceptability and appropriate loan to value ratios for decisions.
• Verify and analyze income to calculate debt to income ratios for decisions. Complex financial statements, asset statements, as well as personal and business income tax returns are analyzed as part of the decisioning process.
• Analyze and review title opinions for decisioning on all loan applications.
• Decision and review completion of the required conditions to approve loan and communicate requirements to appropriate parties.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND JOB SKILLS

• The applicant must have 1-3 years of recent residential mortgage underwriting experience.
• Experience working with Loan Prospector (LP) and Desktop Underwriter (DU) highly preferred
• Empower experience preferred.
