    **Be a part of a winning team! Aspire Health Alliance's Discovery Day Treatment was recognized by the Association for Behavioral Healthcare (ABH) with an excellence in Best Practice award! **

    The Discovery Day Treatment program **** located at our Braintree clinic is a community-based group therapy program for adults (ages 18+) with chronic mental health challenges. Designed to help those who struggle with social isolation and lack of daytime structure. Discovery helps members find meaning, connection, and purpose in their lives.

    The Peer Specialist provides peer counseling and support in groups and the milieu, drawing on common experiences as a peer, to validate clients’ experiences, and to provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery. Peer-led groups may include Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Peer Support, and other activities-based or psychoeducational groups. Peers are encouraged to incorporate their own interests/strengths into developing new groups that support the program's holistic approach to treatment. Peers may also provide crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of staff with professional degrees.

    **Other responsibilities include: **

    • Providing expertise and consultation from a mental health consumer perspective to the entire team concerning clients’ experiences on symptoms of mental illness, the effects and side-effects of medications, clients’ responses to and opinions of treatment and clients' experiences of recovery

    • Collaborating with the team to promote a team culture in which each clients’ point of view, experiences, and preferences are recognized, understood, and respected, and in which client self-determination and decision-making in treatment planning are maximized and supported

    • Assisting clients in identifying, understand, and combat stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and develop strategies to reduce self stigma

    • Assisting other team members to identify and understand culture-wide stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness and develop strategies to eliminate stigma within the team

    Schedule: **** Part time (Flexible schedule!)

    Hourly Rate: **** $17.00

    Required Skills

    • Peer Specialist Certification required within 6 months of date of hire. (Agency will assist with process)
    • Lived experience with recovery from psychiatric disabilities required
    • Success in working within a team environment

    Required Experience

    • Current or previous experience as a consumer of mental health services required.
    • One-year experience in an acute mental health setting (preferred)
    • Experience working with Emergency Services preferred
