    JOB SUMMARY

    The Financial Analyst, Sr. is responsible for statutory and internal financial reporting. The incumbent prepares, including but not limited to, the quarterly and annually financial reports mandated by Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and other regulatory agencies, general ledger reconciliation, budget variances analysis, as well as a monthly rolled-back financial statement. The incumbent assists with maintaining CalOptima’s general ledger system and provides technical support in Accounting and Financial Reporting applications.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares statutory financial filings mainly for Medi-Cal line of business.
    • Monitors general ledger accounts and validates financial data.
    • Develops a monthly rolled-back financial report.
    • Prepares a monthly budget variances analysis.
    • Conducts maintenance and performs other responsibilities related to CalOptima’s chart of accounts
    • Builds ad-hoc financial reports from BI360 Financial Reporting software.
    • Other projects and duties as assigned.

     

    POSSESSES THE ABILITY TO:

    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
    • Work cooperatively and effectively on group projects.
    • Cross-train and back up other areas within the Accounting & Finance departments.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with CalOptima leadership and staff.
    • Utilize computer and appropriate software (e.g., Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and job-specific applications/systems to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position assignment.

     

     

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
    • 5 years of financial reporting experience with a large corporation, managed care health plan, IPA, or in a hospital setting required.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.

                                                                                                          

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) at an advanced level.
    • Methods of financial analysis, evaluation, estimation, and allocation.
    • Accounting, and financial reporting software at a proficiency level, preferably in Great Plains, BI360 Financial Reporting and other database settings.
    • Medi-Cal/Medicare insurance, eligibility, and health care coverage.

    • Engineering of steel and concrete superstructures, including long span or high rise.
