    The Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Programs invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach GE 101; the 1-unit Academic Success Lab.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty is to deliver the Academic Success Lab curriculum in the manner determined by the Director of Academic Success and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Programs. In addition, faculty responsibilities may include:

    • Teaching of curriculum according to the goals and objectives of the Academic Success Lab.

    • Office hours in relation to the course load carried, and as assigned in the faculty teaching assignment.

    • Participation in faculty training, meetings, and activities as identified by the department, and described in the adjunct faculty agreement.

    • Determine student mastery of the material and assign final course grades from the evaluation of assignments related to course material, including completion of required Academic Success Lab activities.

    • Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must have a master’s or terminal degree in the field of instruction or related area.
    • Preferred experience includes teaching at the college or university level.
    • Preferred Academic Advising, Academic Success Coaching, College Success Skills Counseling, or equivalent work experience.
    • The ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
    • A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University.

     

     WORKLOAD

    Assigned teaching duties will not exceed 9 units per semester; office hours and additional duties may be assigned. Total workload will not exceed 29 hours per week, nor 24 units per 12-month period.

  • Qualifications
    • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. 
    • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems.
    • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
    • Thorough knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IDP). 
    • Advanced knowledge of QA/QC process.
    • Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
    • Possess strong hand and advanced CAD drafting skills.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop preferred.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Proficiency in 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max and Viz 2006 preferred.
    • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
    • Proficiency in Revit required.
    • Proficiency in NewForma preferred.
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to lead teams and work effectively with other project leaders.
    • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
