    The University of Montana invites applications for the position of Dean of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy within the College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences (CHPBS).     Established in 1907, the School of Pharmacy is the oldest professional school in the College and offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and four graduate level degrees in Medicinal Chemistry, Neuroscience, Pharmaceutical Sciences & Drug Design, and Toxicology. The School has 43 faculty (31 full time) across two departments of Pharmacy Practice and Biomedical & Pharmaceutical Sciences. The School is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

     

    The Dean serves as the School’s chief executive and academic officer and is responsible for all academic, research and clinical programs. Responsibilities include faculty & student recruitment, resource development & allocation, strategic planning and program assessment. The Dean reports to the Dean of the College of Health Professions & Biomedical Sciences and will lead the School in the development and implementation of a bold vision that will advance the School’s mission in teaching, scholarship, and service.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Candidates must have a Pharm.D., Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in an academically relevant discipline and have eligibility for a faculty appointment at the rank of Professor. Candidates are sought who demonstrate an understanding of the important trends in pharmacy education and practice, interprofessional education and national and global healthcare. Leadership experience is required for growing and advancing academic programs in a competitive higher education environment. A commitment to academic and scholarly excellence appropriate to a research university that supports collaborative synergies is required. The ideal candidate will have strong management skills and financial experience relevant to an academic institution. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to effectively partner with both internal and external stakeholders and the aptitude to lead a dedicated campaign of private, foundation and corporate fund-raising, in partnership with University leadership.  We also seek candidates that possess a steadfast commitment to diversity, maintaining an inclusive institutional environment, and a demonstrated ability to work closely and constructively with a wide variety of constituents.
