    The Community Engagement Specialist is a unique position for Aspis. This position is dedicated to growing our social efforts including Sustainability, Diversity | Equity | Inclusion, and Volunteering. At Aspis, we pride ourselves in providing top service when it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    This position is under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and the Operation Supervisor, and in accordance with the policies of Aspis, the Community Engagement Intern will be responsible for engaging in activities to increase social efforts within Aspis including volunteering efforts, social programs, and environmental audits regularly performed for us. The overall goal of this position is to grow our sustainability and equity programs within our operating locations in Missouri, Minnesota, and Virginia.

    The Community Engagement Specialist coordinates initiatives designed to promote the organization and its services to the community. Administers organizational programs aimed at addressing the needs of the surrounding area.

    DUTIES:

    • Identify and foster relationships with local nonprofit organizations

    • Interact with local stakeholders to grow the Aspis name in the community

    • Identify sponsorship opportunities for Aspis

    • Help install and foster Aspis' core values throughout the organization

    • Answer phones and direct them to the appropriate person

    • Work with the operation supervisor on long-term projects

    · Perform work on-site at designated locations during scheduled hours.

    · Interact positively with internal and external customers, e.g., clients, co-workers, and associates.

    · Submit weekly status report in the project-defined template to the Program Manager.

    · Document processes in the standard operating procedures (SOP) format and contribute to and assist in maintaining the SOP handbook.

    COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

    · Create and implement a veterans engagement plan.

    · Educate customers on our dedication to supporting veterans in the workplace.

    · Create and implement a sustainability plan.

    · Educate customers on our sustainability efforts.

    · Create a volunteerism and philanthropy plan.

    · Educate customers on our volunteerism and philanthropy efforts.

    · Create and implement a diversity, equity, and inclusion plan.

    · Educate our customers on our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

    · Initiate, develop, cultivate, and maintain community relationships by being the community's primary point of contact for engagement efforts.

    · Research and complete certifications for Aspis regarding the above topics.

    TASKS AND ASSIGNMENTS

    · Track tasks to completion.

    · Provide reminders about critical meetings and action items.

    · Notify and prioritize time-sensitive items requiring response within 48 hours (positive contact and automated flag reminders).

    · Effectively infer task prioritization based on organizational priorities.

    · Execute process workflows.

    · Advise on the potential benefits/uses of automation to improve the efficiency of administrative support or program operations.

    · Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Sophomore and above with a major in business, sustainability, or similar fields

    • Integrity, accountability, assuming responsibility for success

    • Analytical skills to resolve problems and think creatively

    • Verbal and written communication skills

    • Organizational skills to prioritize and plan work, multi-task, and meet schedules

    • Adaptable and flexible; able to think quickly in stress situations

    • Aptitude and willingness to learn and show continuous engagement and learning of their position and duties

    • Passion for equity, inclusion, sustainability, and diversity.

    • Ability to work onsite in Duluth, Minnesota

    • This position has been designated as one that maintains our HUBZone certification requirements. The employee must live in a qualified HUBZone area and report to Aspis' Duluth, Minnesota, office.
